Tteokbokki is the ultimate Korean comfort food—soft and chewy rice cakes simmered in a bold, spicy-sweet sauce.
Perfect for a quick snack or a cozy dinner.
To make it, combine 3 tbsp gochujang, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp gochugaru, 2 tbsp honey or rice syrup, and 2 cloves of minced garlic to create the sauce. In a pan, bring 3 cups of anchovy stock (or water) to a boil. Add 450g rice cakes and the sauce, stir well, and cook on medium heat for 10 minutes. Add 2–3 sheets of chopped fish cake and simmer for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens and the rice cakes are glossy. Garnish with green onions if you like.
