Eomuk Bokkeum is one of those quick-and-easy Korean side dishes that never disappoint.
With just a handful of ingredients and 10 minutes of your time, this savory, slightly sweet fish cake stir-fry delivers bold flavor and comforting vibes—perfect alongside hot rice for a satisfying meal.
Start by slicing 250g Korean fish cakes into bite-sized pieces. In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp soy sauce, ½ tbsp sugar or honey, 1 tsp gochugaru (optional), and ¼ cup water. In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp oil over medium heat. Stir-fry half an onion, garlic (2 cloves, minced), and chopped green onion (green parts first) until fragrant.
Add fish cakes, stir-fry for 2 minutes, then pour in the sauce. Cook for 1–2 more minutes until the sauce thickens. Finish with 1 tsp sesame oil, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and garnish with the rest of the green onion.
