Despite the shelter being small and already home to many cats in need, they couldn't ignore a new, desperate case that came their way.
The story unfolds as the shelter owner, while inspecting the surrounding area, discovered a cat in dire straits. The cat, pregnant and frail, was wandering on a filthy dirt road. Her white fur, once pristine, was now matted and stained with dirt. More distressing was her front leg, which appeared deformed—whether from a previous injury or birth defect was unclear.
This emaciated and weakened cat seemed to have no strength left to protect herself or move effectively. The sight was heart-wrenching, and it was evident that immediate intervention was needed. Despite the challenging situation, the volunteer decided to bring the cat back to the shelter and named her Kasih.
At the shelter, Kasih joined a group of cats, each with their own harrowing story. Some had eye injuries or were pregnant, and all were hopeful for a healthier future.
Kasih’s condition was critical; a visit to the vet revealed that she had endured severe neglect. The vet confirmed that Kasih had mange, numerous wounds, and even a festering, infected wound in her mouth. It was also discovered that someone had twisted her arm, adding to her suffering.
The vet initially planned to shave Kasih’s fur, but this would have worsened her wounds and mange. Instead, the chosen course of action involved giving Kasih a vitamin injection and internal medications.
Her care required immense patience, as she could only receive low doses of antibiotics and vitamins to ensure the safety of her unborn kittens.
Kasih showed remarkable resilience as a mother amid her hardships. The primary focus was to save her unborn babies and hope for their health. Unfortunately, Kasih fell into critical condition three times, nearly losing her battle. The rescuer, deeply terrified, did everything possible to save her. Gradually, Kasih’s condition improved with continuous care.
She became more agile, her eyes brightened, and she began to enjoy walking around.
Kasih developed a close bond with her rescuer, always following them and seeking affection. Despite progress, her wounds worsened, necessitating a second shaving of her fur for proper cleaning. Kasih underwent surgery under anesthesia, but the recovery was slow, with her still under the effects of anesthesia at the time of this update.
Fortunately, Kasih's condition eventually saw significant improvement. She became very healthy and gave birth to three beloved kittens.
However, the shelter faced a space crunch as it was undergoing repairs to expand its capacity. During this time, there was only room for abandoned kittens, highlighting the urgent need for more space.
Thanks to the relentless love and dedication of the rescuer, Kasih’s life had transformed for the better. Not only did she recover, but many other abandoned cats were also rescued and cared for at the shelter. Each cat had its own unique story, and the tireless efforts of the volunteers provided hope and a chance for a new life.
