Insta360 X5 Camera Update: ND Filters, Ultra Battery, and Enhanced Exposure Features!

Today, I’m excited to share the new Insta360 X5 Camera Update, a part of the Insta360 Summer Update, which brings powerful upgrades to its 360-degree camera.

The Insta360 X5 now features several significant enhancements. One of the standout updates is AdaptiveTone, a technology designed to improve the exposure balance between the camera’s dual lenses. It records light data independently for each lens, ensuring the preservation of highlights and shadows across the entire image, which results in more natural-looking footage.

This works well for both 8K 30fps and 5.7K 30fps 360-degree video, as well as flat PureVideo.

Another exciting update is for PureVideo, which now functions in single-lens mode in addition to its previous 360 mode. This improvement enables creators to capture clearer low-light footage with reduced noise and better color fidelity in both spherical and flat modes.

Battery life has also been enhanced. The X5 now supports Endurance Mode in 8K, offering up to two hours of continuous recording. For 5.7K 24fps

mode, the recording time has increased from 185 minutes to 208 minutes. If you need even more runtime, the Ultra Battery accessory is available for $50, providing an additional 17% boost in battery life, reaching nearly four hours of continuous recording.

For those shooting in bright conditions, the X5 ND filter kit offers ND16, ND32, and ND64 filters to help reduce shutter speeds and create natural motion blur. This is perfect for fast-paced activities like mountain biking and motorcycle filming

. Insta360 is also offering a custom lens kit, where you can personalize your lenses with pre-made patterns, AI artwork, or your own images.

Motorcycle creators get additional attention with updates like immersive stabilization that preserves natural shake to enhance the feeling of speed, and Sena headset integration for hands-free operation. The new GPS preview remote allows camera control, live preview, GPS data recording, and noise cancellation.

Insta360 also introduced new diving accessories and updates to the AquaVision 3.0 algorithm for underwater footage, providing better color adjustments. Plus, you can now sync the X5 with a Suunto dive computer to embed diving data into your footage.

Finally, Insta360 Studio has been upgraded with faster export speeds, background exports, and improvements to the AI stitching algorithm. You can also now preview video files directly on your computer without opening them in Studio.
