Charlotte had never considered getting a cat until an unexpected encounter changed her life. On a day when she was taking her puppy for a bath, she came across a stray kitten in dire condition.
The tiny creature was covered in flies and maggots, its eyes crusted shut, and it appeared to be struggling to breathe. The sight was heart-wrenching, and without hesitation, Charlotte scooped up the pitiful kitten and rushed it to the vet.
Upon arrival, the vet confirmed that the kitten’s eyes were sealed with pus. After a thorough cleaning, the kitten could finally open its eyes, but its breathing remained labored.
The vet's initial tests ruled out feline distemper, revealing instead a severe respiratory issue exacerbated by fleas and fly eggs. Despite the grim condition, the kitten proved surprisingly well-behaved, likely due to exhaustion. The vet started nebulization treatment, and after several days in the clinic, the kitten’s condition began to improve.
Charlotte was not yet ready to adopt the kitten; everything had happened so suddenly.
